Connecting an external S ATA hard disk (eSATA)
(Port Replicator only)
The notebook itself does not have an eSATA port. Th e optional Port Replicator
available for your no tebook provides this port.
An external SATA hard disk can be connected at the eSATA port. This allows you
to expand the internal h ard disk capacity as you wish.
The length of the eSATA cable must not exceed 2 me tres. Consult a specialist
dealer for advice on w hich eSATA data cable is suitable for your external eSATA
hard disk. Ma ke s ure that the hard disk has its own external po wer supply.
The data transfer rate is up to 2,400 Mbit/s.

► Connect the data cable to the external
device.
► Connect the data cable to the eSATA po rt.
Device drivers
The eSATA hard disk is automatically recognised by your operating system and installed.
You will find more information in the documentation for the external SATA
hard disk and the operating system.
Safe removal of eSATA and USB devices
Always cor
rectly remove the device according to the rules described b elow,
to ensure
that none o f your data is lost.
► Left-click on the symbol t o remove hardware safely.
► Select t
he device you wish to shut do wn and remove.
► Press the "Enter" key.

r the dialogue box which tells you that it is now safe to remove the device .
