AREA SCANNER CLEANING PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Only persons who are appropriately trained and
qualied with the safe operation and service of this machine
should be allowed to carry out operation, installation, service or
maintenance� Trained personnel must follow all applicable codes,
laws and standards, both national and local, when conducting any
servicing or maintaining of the machine and associated equip-
ment� Trained personnel should know and follow all national and
local regulations regarding occupational health and safety acts
or regulations� These persons must also have received safety
training to recognize, identify and avoid any hazards involved in
servicing and maintaining the equipment� Service personnel shall
also notify and inform any employee or individual aected by the
shutdown and lockout, tag out of the equipment, even if they are
not involved in the service or maintenance work� Service person-
nel must use any protective equipment, protective devices and
clothing required in accordance with all governing acts, laws or
the employer�
1� Ensure the Destu-it is locked out before attempting to clean
the front area scanner� Please see document “860-6000
Destu-it Safety Lockout Procedure”�
2� Once the operator platform is in its lowest position, place
wooden blocks underneath the platform� (Figure 1)
3� With a clean, damp, soft cloth, reach under the platform to
clean the scanner� You need to wipe the lens and ledge as
shown below. (Figure 2 – Rear scanner shown. Front scanner
is similar�)
4� After fully cleaned, remove the wooden blocks and resume
normal operation�
NOTE: The front conveyor is NOT considered a suspended load
and will not lower any closer to the oor. The distance from the
platform to the oor is approximately 6 inches.

scanner lens or ledge is dirty�
Clean lens and ledge with a clean,
damp, soft cloth�
The ledge is directly beneath the
lens and needs to be cleaned�
