LEVELLING THE OPERATOR PLATFORM
Tools required: Measuring tape, 14mm (9/16”) wrench, oor jack,
metal rod or screwdriver
IMPORTANT: Only persons who are appropriately trained and
qualied with the safe operation and service of this
machine should be allowed to carry out operation, installation,
service or maintenance Trained personnel must follow
all applicable codes, laws and standards, both national and local,
when conducting any servicing or maintaining of the
machine and associated equipment Trained personnel should
know and follow all national and local regulations
regarding occupational health and safety acts or regulations
These persons must also have received safety training to
recognize, identify and avoid any hazards involved in servicing
and maintaining the equipment
1 Measure the distance from the bottom of the operator plat-
form to the underside edge of the top of mast on the same
side Repeat the same procedure on the opposite side of the
machine Compare the two measurements to determine if the
platform is level The two measurements should be the same
If the distance varies more than 1/8”, the platform is out of
level and must be adjusted. Calculate ½ of the dierence of
the two measurements and note this dimension Don’t mea-
sure from the oor to the underside of the platform.
NOTE: The measurements MUST be done o the machine
and not the oor because the oor may not be perfectly at. It
is important that the platform be level with the machine base
to properly align the platform carriage travel on the left and
right masts as it moves up and down
2 With the machine ON, raise the operator platform enough
(about 8 inches) to slide a oor jack underneath the right
side of the platform Set the jack to its lowest height Lower
the platform down so it rests on the oor jack. The platform
should only be about 6-8 inches o the oor.
3. Complete Destu-it Safety Lockout Procedures – See
Document 860-6000.
4 Remove the center oor plate to access the turnbuckle on the
wire rope. The oor plate is held in place with Velcro strips.
Use the oor jack to slightly raise the right side of the platform
(one or two inches), just enough to relieve the strain of the
platform’s weight o of the wire rope.
5 Use a metal rod or screwdriver and insert it through the hole
in the center of the turnbuckle to hold the barrel of it in place
while loosening the nuts on both ends of the turnbuckle If the
measurement on the right side is greater, turn the barrel so
it pulls the two ends of the turnbuckle closer together by the
distance calculated in Step 1 If the measurement on the right
side is smaller, turn the barrel of the turnbuckle so the two
ends move apart by the distance calculated in # 1
6 Don’t tighten the two nuts yet, just snug them to the ends
of the turnbuckle barrel. Lower the oor jack so it no longer
supports the weight of the platform Measure the left and right
platform heights again (repeat step 1) and compare them If
the measurements are the same, the platform is level If the
measurements dier by more than 1/8”, raise the oor jack
again, to take the weight o of the wire rope/turnbuckle and
adjust the turnbuckle accordingly (# 5)
7 Once the measurements are equal, the platform is considered
level While using the metal rod or screwdriver to hold the
turnbuckle barrel, tighten each nut against the barrel Lower
the oor jack and move it out from under the platform. Re-
install the center oor plate.
8. Remove the Lockouts from the Destu-it – See
Document 860-6000.
The Destu-it machine can now be returned to service.
