syncFURNACE OD Instruction & Installation Manual – Rev 09 Pg. 24 of 81
12. At termination point, install vent screens into the last opening for both the Flue Gas Outlet and
Combustion Air Inlet fittings.
13. For sidewall terminations - if additional rigidity is required, secure Combustion Air Inlet and Flue
Gas Outlet piping to external wall.
14. For Horizontal Terminations - install a warning plate above the vent termination(s) that reads “Gas
Vent Directly Below – Keep Free of Obstructions”.
15. For Horizontal Flue Gas Terminations – installers have the option to incorporate (in vertical
position) a Tee (of same venting material & size) as the last piece of termination on Flue Gas
Outlet to prevent flue gas from being directed towards nearby structures or to observe local code
requirements. Screens must be installed into both ends of Tee.
16. When using IPEX CPVC Concentric 3” Kit - for horizontal installations keep back edge of combustion
air intake 1” (25.4mm) Min – 2” (51mm) Max away from the exterior wall. When using in vertical
installations keep the back edge of the combustion air intake 24” (610mm) Min above the roof.
17. For Vertical (Roof) Terminations use extra supports and apply extra caution to ensure that venting
system is properly secured with a support system that is capable of safely handling the load of the
venting materials.
18. If multiple product gas vents are installed in a row, either;
a. Group all flue gas vents together (side-by-side) - min 8” (.20m) centerline spacing between
each flue gas vent. Group all combustion air intakes together (side-by-side) - min 8”
(.20m) centerline spacing between each. Spacing between the group of flue gas vents and
group of combustion air intake vents must be at least 3 feet (.91m) between the closest flue
gas vent and combustion air inlet vent. Follow all other venting requirement in this manual.
This supersedes the listing of the venting material instructions.
b. Spacing between the flue gas outlet of one and the combustion air inlet of the other must
be 1 foot (.92m) between each. This supersedes the listing of the venting material
instructions.
19. For Horizontal Termination Option #2, if the 12” minimum spacing from center to center cannot be
achieved, an acceptable alternate is to extend the length of the Flue Gas Outlet so that its closest
point is 12” minimum (24” maximum) away from the closest point of the Combustion Air Inlet.
20. When using Duravent Poly Pro Flex or Centrotherm Innoflue Flex vent materials, it is recommended
to have the vent material in 32°F (0°C) or higher ambient space before bending at installation. No
bends should be made to greater than 45° and ONLY installed in vertical or near vertical
installations. FLEX VENTING SYSTEMS ARE NOT APPROVED FOR HORIZONTAL VENTING
INSTALLATIONS.
