In addition to preventing ingestion of chemical contaminants, care must be
taken to ensure air intake terminals are not installed in locations where
contamination might occur due to ingestion of particulate foreign material
(dust, dirt, debris etc.).
Insulation should not be used on non-metal (PVC, CPVC, Polypropylene)
venting materials. The use of insulation will cause increased vent wall
temperatures, which could result in vent pipe failure.
DO NOT mix vent systems of different types or manufacturers. Failure to
comply could result in severe personal injury, death, or substantial property
damage.
DO NOT install flue gas venting or combustion air intake venting below ground
level in an area such as a dug-out window well.
