However, we cannot warn you of every
conceivable hazard that can arise in
performing maintenance. Only you can decide
whether or not you should perform a given
task.
Maintenance safety
You will come across some of the most
important safety precautions in the following
pages of this manual.
Other tasks that are more difficult and require
special tools are best performed by
professionals. It is recommended that wheel
removal should normally be handled by a Hero
MotoCorp authorised workshop.
This section includes instructions on some
important maintenance tasks. You can
perform some of these tasks with the tools
provided (if you have basic mechanical skills).
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Be sure there is adequate ventilation
whenever you start the engine.
• Injury from moving parts.
• Make sure the engine is turned “OFF” before
you begin any maintenance or repair. This will
help eliminate several potential hazards:
• Burns from hot parts.
Let the engine and exhaust system cool
before touching.
Remember that your Authorised Hero MotoCorp
workshop knows your vehicle best and is fully
equipped to maintain and repair it.
• Carbon monoxide poisoning from
engine exhaust.
• To reduce the possibility of a fire or explosion,
be careful when working around petrol or
batteries. Use only nonflammable solvent, not
petrol, to clean parts. Keep cigarettes, sparks
and flames away from the battery and all fuel-
related parts.
Do not run the engine unless instructed to
do so.
• Read the instructions before you begin and
make sure you have the tools and skills
required.
• To help prevent the vehicle from falling over,
park it on a firm, level surface, on the main
stand.
To ensure best quality and reliability, it is
recommended to use Hero MotoCorp genuine
parts for repair and replacement.
