5.3 Fibre-optic communication interfaces with C37.94

The line differential protection IED can be configured with fibre-optic interfaces according to C37.94
protocol.
Three different types of LDCM modules are available:
• Short range (SR): multi-mode fibre-optic 50/125 μm or 62.5/125 μm with 2-3 km to
telecommunication equipment (820 nm). Can also be used for back-to-back applications.
• Medium-range (MR): single-mode fibre-optic 9/125 μm for back-to-back applications with < 80
km distances (1310 nm).
• .Long range (LR): single-mode fibre-optic 9/125 μm for back-to-back applications with < 110 km
distances (1550 nm)
