Tyre Pressure Monitor
System
This vehicle may have a Tyre
Pressure Monitor System (TPMS).
Caution
Modifications made to the Tyre
Pressure Monitor System (TPMS)
by anyone other than an
authorised service facility may
void authorisation to use the
system.
Maintaining manufacturer's
recommended tyre pressure is part
of best practices to optimise the fuel
consumption of the vehicle.
The Tyre Pressure Monitor System
(TPMS) uses radio and sensor
technology to check tyre pressure
levels. The TPMS sensors monitor
the air pressure in your tyres and
transmit tyre pressure readings to a
receiver located in the vehicle.
Note
The spare wheel may not be fitted
with a TPMS sensor.
The tyre pressure monitor system
checks the pressure of all four road
wheels once a minute when vehicle
speed exceeds a certain limit.
Caution
The TPMS is not a substitute for
proper tyre maintenance, and it is
the driver's responsibility to
maintain correct tyre pressure,
even if under-inflation has not
reached the level to trigger
illumination of the TPMS low tyre
pressure light.
Each tyre, including the spare (if
provided), should be checked
monthly when cold. If required, the
tyres should be inflated to the
pressure specified on the tyre
placard. (If your vehicle has tyres of
a different size than the size
indicated on the tyre placard, you
should determine the correct tyre
inflation pressure for those tyres.)
As an added safety feature, the
TPMS illuminates a low tyre
pressure light when one or more of
your tyres is significantly
under-inflated.
Note
Accordingly, when the low tyre
pressure light illuminates, you
should stop and check your tyres as
soon as possible and inflate them to
the correct pressure. Driving on a
significantly under-inflated tyre
causes the tyre to overheat and can
lead to tyre failure. Under-inflation
also reduces fuel efficiency and tyre
tread life, and may affect the
vehicle's handling and stopping
ability.
