5.2 Routine Maintenance Procedures
Table 5-2 lists the procedures that should be done every 12 months to keep the 8500C/C+ system in
good working order.
5.3 Periodic Inspection Procedures
Inspect components every 12 months in accordance with Table 5-13.
5.4 Functional Tests
NOTE: These tests require firmware version 3.21 (or higher) in the 8500C/C+ balancer/
analyzer. For instructions on changing the firmware to a newer version, see Section 5.7.3,
“EPROM Change Procedure.”
This section contains instructions to test the 8500C/C+ system performance parameters. If a test step
fails, refer to the “Troubleshooting Guide” in Section 5.6 to locate the faulty component.
The functional tests provide a high confidence level that the instrument is operating properly and
within specifications. The functional test setups use, as much as possible, all the components
(transducers, cables, etc.) that are used in the field. This allows the user to verify the proper operation
of these components and aids in fault isolation.
5.4.1 8500C/C+ Balancer/Analyzer System Test Procedure (with
8520C)
NOTE: These tests build successively on the first test in this section. Any settings not
mentioned must be left as they were in the previous test.
5.4.1.1 Test Setup
a. Connect equipment as shown in Figure 5-2.
b. Adjust gap between magnetic pickup and screw to .04 in.
NOTE: Make sure calibrator Velocimeter cables are free to move so that Velocimeter
movement is not inhibited.
