(2) Monitor signal generator output with spectrum analyzer with marker at 580.0 Hz.
Adjust signal generator output channel connected to Velocimeter input until
amplitude is 134.4 +/- 0.5 mV RMS.
NOTE: The following steps (c-q) may be replaced by the equivalent test in hardware self-test
menu (STATUS, MORE KEYS, SELF-TEST, HW TEST) if the version of firmware under
test supports it. If it is not supported, the manual method is listed below.
c. Press SPECTRUM key on 8500C/C+.
d. Press SETUP key.
e. Key in 600000 (rpm) with numeric keys in MAXIMUM FREQUENCY field.
f. Select <RPM> on display with arrow keys.
g. Press CHANGE soft key to select <Hz>.
h. Select SEEK: field with arrow keys.Press CHANGE soft key to select SEEK <OFF>.
i. Select <SINGLE> field with arrow keys. Press CHANGE softkey to select
<MULTIPLE>.
j. Press ENTER soft key and wait 10 seconds. Press START key.
k. After 5 seconds or more. Press and hold STOP until the <MULTIPLE> indicator on the
display disappears.
The acquired spectrum shows a range of odd harmonic peaks on the 8500C/C+ display, from the 1st
(fundamental) to the 17th. For each peak, you will write down 5 measurements in Table 5-6 the
amplitude of the peak itself, the 2 next amplitudes to the left of the peak, and the 2 next amplitudes to
the right. This process is described in the following steps.
