Removing the Front Drive Backplane
Step 1 Wear an ESD wrist strap. For details, see 5.2 ESD Protection.
Step 2 Power o the server. For details, see 5.4.2 Powering O the Server.
Step 3 Remove the power cables. For details, see 5.7 PSU.
Step 4 Remove the server. For details, see 5.4.4 Removing the Server and Guide Rails.
Step 5 Remove the chassis cover. For details, see 5.8 Chassis Cover.
Step 6 Remove the air duct. For details, see 5.9 Air Duct.
Step 7 Remove all front drives. For details, see 5.6 Drive.
Step 8 Remove all fan modules. For details, see 5.10 Fan Module.
Step 9 Press and hold down the latches on both sides of a fan module bracket, and lift
the fan module bracket. See Figure 5-78. Use the same method to lift the other
fan module bracket.

Step 10 Remove all cables from the drive backplane. For details, see 3 Internal Cabling.
Step 11 Hold down and open the latches on the backplane, lift the backplane as far as it
will go, and pull it out in the arrow direction to remove it. See (1) and (2) in
Figure 5-79.
