b) In the navigation area, expand System Service Aids > Cable Plugging Validation. Then, click
Validate Cables. The system veriîš³es that the expected cables are present.
c) If your conîš³guration includes two or more nodes, expand System Service Aids > Cable Plugging
Validation. Then, click Verify Node Position. Otherwise, if your conîš³guration includes only one
node, continue to the next step.
If the system is cabled correctly, the blue identify LED on each system node will light up, in
sequence, from the top node to the bottom node. If the LEDs do not light up in sequence, the FSP
cables need to be re-installed.
d) Expand System Service Aids > Cable Plugging Validation. Then, select All of the above in the
Display Cable Status section and click Continue. The system validates that the cables are
installed in the correct locations. Expand System Service Aids > Cable Plugging Validation to
display a table with the results. Ensure that the plugging status is OK for each cable in the
displayed table. If the status is OK, no further action is required. If the status is not OK, review the
error logs, correct the problems, and repeat steps b, c and d as needed until the status is OK for
all cables.
e) Exit the ASMI.
Permanently removing memory modules
Preparing the 9080-M9S system to permanently remove memory modules
About this task
The following memory conîš³gurations are available for the systems.
• The system nodes use DDR4 memory modules.
• DDR3 memory modules are also supported. Mixing of DDR3 and DDR4 memory modules are not
supported in the same system node.
• For each processor socket, a minimum of 4 of the 8 memory modules must be populated. The only valid
number of memory modules plugged into sites for a given processor module is 4 or 8.
• The memory modules must be plugged in quads (a group of 4). Odd numbers or having 6 memory
modules for a processor is not supported.
• Each memory module within a quad must be the same size and type. The memory module quads can be
different from each other.
• To ensure proper cooling, a memory module or a memory module ller is required in all locations.
• Table 24 on page 194 shows the base memory plugging rules.
• Table 25 on page 195 shows the plugging rules for adding memory. Quads must be added next to a
processor. The quads can be added in any order.
