Most servers are not physically located near the people who manage them. To help you see
the event from a remote location, the IMM provides the capability of looking at all tiers of light
path diagnostics, as shown in Figure 6-33.

Hardware event log
For more detailed information, including the events that led up to a failure, you can access the
hardware event log. Although not every event in the hardware event log is an event needing
attention, the event log can provide insight to the cause or conditions that led up to the failure.
The event log can be saved to a text file to be sent to IBM support.
Figure 6-34 on page 257 shows the IMM Event Log for the hard drive failure.
