LED Problem Action
CPU When only the CPU LED is lit, a
microprocessor has failed.
When the CPU and CNFG LEDs are lit,
an invalid microprocessor configuration
has occurred.
1. Determine whether the CNFG LED is also lit. If the CNFG
LED is not lit, a microprocessor has failed.
a. Make sure that the failing microprocessor, which is
indicated by a lit LED on the system board, is installed
correctly. See “Installing a microprocessor and heat
sink” on page 240 for information about installing a
microprocessor.
b. If the failure remains, go to http://www.ibm.com/
systems/support/supportsite.wss/
docdisplay?brandind=5000008&lndocid=SERV-CALL for
additional troubleshooting information.
2. If the CNFG LED is lit, then an invalid microprocessor
configuration has occurred.
a. Make sure that the microprocessors are compatible with
each other. They must match in speed and cache size.
To compare the microprocessor information, run the
Setup utility and select System Information, then
select System Summary, and then select Processor
Details.
b. (Trained service technician only) Replace an
incompatible microprocessor.
c. If the failure remains, go to http://www.ibm.com/
systems/support/supportsite.wss/
docdisplay?brandind=5000008&lndocid=SERV-CALL for
additional troubleshooting information.
DASD A hard disk drive error has occurred. A
hard disk drive has failed or is missing.
1. Check the LEDs on the hard disk drives for the drive with a
lit status LED and reseat the hard disk drive.
2. Reseat the hard disk drive backplane.
3. For more information, see “Hard disk drive problems” on
page 44.
4. If the error remains, replace the following components in
the order listed, restarting the server after each:
a. Replace the hard disk drive (see “Removing a hot-swap
hard disk drive” on page 210 for more information).
b. Replace the hard disk drive backplane (see “Removing
the SAS hard disk drive backplane” on page 235 for
more information).
5. If the problem remains, go to http://www.ibm.com/support/
docview.wss?uid=psg1SERVCALL.
