The SAS ID for each bay is printed on the server front, above each bay.
If firmware and documentation updates are available, you can download them
from the IBM Web site. The server might have features that are not described in
the documentation that comes with the server, and the documentation might be
updated occasionally to include information about those features, or technical
updates might be available to provide additional information that is not included
in the server documentation. To check for updates, complete the following steps.

firmware and documentation might vary slightly from what is described in this
document.
1. Go to http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/.
2. Under Product support, click System x.
3. Under Popular links, click Software and device drivers for firmware updates,
or click Publications lookup for documentation updates.
