6.3.4 Get values from Non-NMEA data
If there are data at the navigation port that are not NMEA compatible it is not possible to distin-
guish between different data streams (like the different NMEA sentences in the example above)
and all incoming data is handled as one “sentence”. Sentences have to be separated by carriage
return and line feed.
There are three options to use non-NMEA data with SESWIN:
space separated data with NMEA header, ASCII data with val-
ues not separated but at constant absolute positions and data
with freely defined headers.
Space Separated Data
Space separated data are handled similar to NMEA data; you can specify position (value number
within the sentence), offset and length as shown above.
This would be the settings for a space-separated GGA string.
ASCII data with Absolute Positions
If there is no special separation character in the data stream but values have fixed positions
(character numbers) within the data it is possible to copy these fixed characters into the SIS
strings.
