The surround speakers produce no sound
• When the T-D (Theater-Dimensional), Stereo or
Mono listening mode is selected, the surround speak-
ers produce no sound.
• Depending on the source and current listening mode,
not much sound may be produced by the surround
speakers. Try selecting another listening mode.
• While Powered Zone 4 is being used, playback in the
main room is reduced to 3.2-channels and the sur-
round speakers produce no sound (page 136).
• Make sure the speakers are configured correctly
(page 102).
The center speaker produces no sound
• When the Stereo listening mode is selected, the center
speaker produces no sound.
• In the Mono listening mode, only the front speakers
output sound if the “Output Speaker” setting is set to
“Left / Right” (page 106).
• Make sure the speakers are configured correctly
(page 102).
The front high, front wide and surround back
speakers produce no sound
• Depending on the current listening mode, no sound
may be produced by the front high, front wide, and
surround back speakers. Select another listening mode
(page 96).
• Not much sound may be produced by the front high,
front wide, and surround back speakers with some
sources.
• Make sure the speakers are configured correctly
(page 102).
• While Powered Zone 2 is being used, playback in the
main room is reduced to 7.2-channels and the front
high and front wide speakers produce no sound
(page 136).
• While Powered Zone 3 is being used, playback in the
main room is reduced to 7.2-channels and the sur-
round back speakers produce no sound (page 136).
The subwoofer produces no sound
• When you play source material that contains no infor-
mation in the LFE channel, the subwoofer may pro-
duce no sound.
• Make sure the speakers are configured correctly
(page 102).
The Zone 2/3/4 speakers produce no sound
• The Zone 2/3/4 speakers only output sources that are
connected to an analog input. Check to see if the
source component is connected to an analog input.
• Powered Zone 2 cannot be used if “Passive Sub-
woofer” is set to “Use” (pages 54 and 137).
• Powered Zone3 cannot be used if “Speakers
Type(Front)” is set to “Bi-Amp” or “BTL” (pages 54
and 139).
• Powered Zone4 cannot be used if “Powered Zone2” or
“Powered Zone3” is set to “Not Act” (page 141).
There’s no sound with a certain signal format
• Check the digital audio output setting on the con-
nected device. On some game consoles, such as those
that support DVD, the default setting is off.
• With some DVD-Video discs, you need to select an
audio output format from a menu.
• Depending on the input signal, some listening modes
cannot be selected (pages 89 to 95).
Can’t get 6.2/7.2 playback
• If no front high, front wide and surround back speak-
ers are connected, or the Zone 2/3/4 speakers are
being used, 6.2/7.2 playback is not possible.
• You can not always select all of the listening modes,
depending on the number of the speakers connected
(pages 89 to 95).
The speaker volume cannot be set as required
(The volume cannot be set to +18.0 dB)
• Check to see if a maximum volume has been set
(page 116).
• If the volume level of each individual speaker has been
adjusted to high positive values (page 103), then the
maximum master volume possible may be reduced.
Note that the individual speaker volume levels are set
automatically after Audyssey MultEQ
®
XT Room
Correction and Speaker Setup has been completed
(page 59).
Noise can be heard
• Using cable ties to bundle audio cables with power
cords, speaker cables, and so on may degrade the
audio performance, so don’t do it.
• An audio cable may be picking up interference. Try
repositioning your cables.
The Late Night function doesn’t work
• Make sure the source material is Dolby Digital, Dolby
Digital Plus, and Dolby TrueHD (page 123).
The analog multichannel input doesn’t work
• Check the multichannel input connections (page 34).
• Make sure that the multichannel input is assigned to
the input selector (page 54).
• Make sure that the multichannel input is selected
(page 87).
• Check the audio output settings on your source com-
ponent.
