Changing the spanning
tree priority
The higher the value, the lower the chance of the switch being used
as the root bridge. To change the priority value:
1 Select Device Setup or Stack Setup.
2 Click Spanning Tree.
3 Click Priority.
4 Type the required value.
5 Click OK.
Changing the message
age expiry time
To change the maximum time between protocol information being re-
ceived and discarded:
1 Select Device Setup or Stack Setup.
2 Click Spanning Tree.
3 Click Message Age Timer Expiry.
4 Type the required number of seconds.
5 Click OK.
Changing the hello expiry
time
To change the time between transmissions of configuration BPDUs
from a switch that is, or attempting to become, the root:
1 Select Device Setup or Stack Setup.
2 Click Spanning Tree.
3 Click Hello Timer Expiry.
4 Type the required number of seconds.
