CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS
WARNING (Continued)
When driving, always pay attention to the distance to the preceding vehicle,
surrounding conditions, and other driving conditions, and keep the inter-
vehicular distance appropriate by depressing the brake pedal or performing
other operations as necessary to drive safely.
Set the set vehicle speed within an appropriate speed range for road conditions,
environment, and to observe the speed limit.
If the stereo camera cannot detect an object (another vehicle) or if the stereo
camera temporarily stops or malfunctions, the adaptive cruise control does not
operate.
Do not place the selector lever in the "N" position, except in the event of an
emergency. When the selector lever is placed in the "N" position, the adaptive
cruise control is automatically deactivated and the engine brake becomes
ineffective. This may result in an unexpected accident.
In a situation where it is difficult for the stereo camera to detect an object,
depress the brake pedal or perform other operations as necessary.
Be sure to set the adaptive cruise control to off when not using the adaptive
cruise control. If the adaptive cruise control is kept on, it is unexpectedly set,
which may result in an accident.
Carefully check the passengers and surrounding area to be safe before using
the adaptive cruise control. Do not operate it from outside the vehicle.
The adaptive cruise control has limited capabilities to determine conditions. In
the following situations, deceleration may not be enough. Depress the brake
pedal as necessary to decelerate the vehicle.
- When the preceding vehicle decelerates suddenly or is driving at an extremely
different speed, even though it is recognized
- When another vehicle suddenly cuts in front of your vehicle
- When the distance from the preceding vehicle becomes short due to lane
changes
