SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
WARNING
• Open the fuel tank filler cap slowly. If you open it quickly, the fuel tank pressure
may cause fuel to spurt out.
• Use diesel fuel that is specified by the relevant vehicle emission standards.
For specified diesel fuel, check "Recommended Fluids, Lubricants and Diesel
Fuels".
• Do not add or mix in poor quality fuels, or gasoline, kerosene, alcohol-based
fuels, or any fuels that are not diesel, or water removing agents or other
fuel additives. Starting the engine with inappropriate fuel in the tank is very
dangerous because it may adversely affect the fuel filter and cause poor
movement of fuel-lubricated parts in the injectors, in addition to adversely
affecting engine components, and could possibly result in a breakdown or even
a fire.
• If inappropriate fuel is accidentally added to the tank, drain it out completely.
ADVICE
• Only use fuels listed above. Do not use other fuels as they may adversely affect
the engine.
• Do not use diesel fuel with higher sulfur content than the diesel fuel that is
specified by the relevant vehicle emission standards. Using high-sulfur diesel
fuel may adversely affect the engine, exhaust emission reduction system, or
EGR system, possibly resulting in a breakdown.
CAUTION
• Using diesel fuel other than those specified by the relevant vehicle emission
standards could prevent the vehicle from complying with local legal
requirements.
