5.1 Maintenance and Inspection
Location of error, remarks.
• Faulty connection in signal lines (TXD, RXD,
and GND) connecting the main unit (JHS-32B)
and remote controller (NCH-414).
• Either the JHS-32B or the NCH-414 power
switch is OFF.
• Fault in E

PROM on the control board of the
JHS-32B.
• Printer power is OFF.
• No printer paper.
• Paper jam.
• Printer is not connected to JHS-32B.
• Operation mistake. Select a memory channel
that contains data.
• Operation mistake. Select a private channel that
contains data.
• Either terminate transmission within 5 minutes,
or enable transmissions longer than 5 minutes
(legal anywhere other than near the coast of the
North America). Consult JRC or a local JRC
agent.
• Check for faults in the antenna system or cables.
• This may occur when receiving weak signals or
when there is interference.
• When this error message is displayed, wait until
the channel is not in use before attempting
transmission again.
• Operation mistake. Check the channel assign-
ment table, then try again.

Error Message List
An error message appears when the wrong key is pressed and when a malfunction occurs in the unit.
Any error message except UNACCEPTABLE remains on the display until the next key operation.

CPU BOARD FAULT No default settings in E

PRINTER PAPER END Printer (NKG-52) paper error.
PRINTER FAULT No RDY signal from printer (NKG-
52)
VACANT MEMORY CH A memory channel containing no
channel data was selected.
VACANT PRIVATE CH A private channel containing no
channel data was selected.
5 MIN TIME OUT Transmission was continued for
more than 5 minutes when con-
tinuous transmission was set to
be prohibited.
ANTENNA FAULT Fault in transmission antenna (too
much reflection of the transmit-
ted power).
ECC ERROR An ECC (Error Check Charactor)
error occurred while receiving
a DSC message (displayed on
the DSC message reception
display).
DSC CH BUSY When an attempt was made to
send a message in DSC, the
channel was busy (in use by
another station).
INVALID CHANNEL A nonexistent channel was se-
lected.
