Transmit distress calls only in an emergency.
Only transmit distress calls under the supervision of the ships captain or
officer in charge.
Do not make test distress calls. Doing so may inconvenience local shipping
and rescue centers.
If an accidental transmission of a false distress call occurs, contact all local
ships and rescue operations on CH16 to inform them that the false distress
call was transmitted accidentally.
A distress call is transmitted to all ships equipped with the DSC feature and
by rescue operations (RCC).
