4.3 Communicating in DSC (Digital Selective Call) Mode
4.3.17 Selecting Automatic Acknowledgment
When the following conditions are satisfied and a work channel has been requested, the JHS-32A
automatically selects the specified work channel and communication method to acknowledge calls:
• AUTO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT is set to ON (as the default but it may also be switched off).
• The handset is on-hook.
• DSC messages are not being edited in the DSC MENU Display.
• Neither FORMAT nor CATEGORY of the message received is DISTRESS.
• The TELECOMMAND1 of the message received is not DISTRESS ACK or DISTRESS RELAY.
• The communication method specified in the TELECOMMAND of the message received matches the
selected work channel (because an error would result if, for example, the TELECOMMAND were
G3E SIMP TEL, but the work channel in use was CH25, which is a duplex channel).
• END OF SEQUENCE in the message received is ACK RQ.
• There is no error (ECC error) in the message received.
• CH70 is not occupied (DSC CH BUSY) by other stations.
To select the manual acknowledgement, select OFF in the AUTO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SETUP
Display.
