3.9 Emergency situations
3.9.1 Correct fire fighting
Suitable measures
Calm and prudent action can safe lives in the event of a fire.
➤ Keep calm.
➤ Give the alarm.
➤ Shut off supply lines if possible.
Mains disconnecting device (all poles)
Cooling water (if present)
Heat recovery (if present)
➤ Warn and move endangered personnel to safety.
➤ Help incapacitated persons.
➤ Close the doors.
➤ When trained accordingly: Attempt to extinguish the fire.
Extinguishing substances
➤ Suitable extinguishing media:
Foam
Carbon dioxide
Sand or soil
➤ Unsuitable extinguishing media:
Strong jet of water
3.9.2 Treating injuries from handling cooling oil
Eye contact:
Cooling oil can cause irritation.
➤ Rinse open eyes thoroughly for a few minutes under running water.
➤ Seek medical help if irritation persists.
Skin contact:
Cooling oil may irritate after prolonged contact.
