12.11 Installing the lower triple clamp (All EXC models)

Main work
– Clean the bearing and sealing elements, check for damage, and grease.
High viscosity grease ( p. 126)
– Insert the lower triple clamp with the steering stem. Mount the upper steering head
bearing.

Check whether the upper steering head seal

is correctly positioned.

Slide on protective ring

and O-ring


– Position the upper triple clamp with the handlebar.

Mount screw

but do not tighten yet.
– Position the clutch line, wiring harness, and voltage regulator. Mount and
tighten screws


Guideline
Remaining screws, chassis M6 10 Nm
(7.4 lbf ft)

– Position the fork legs.
Bleeder screws

are positioned toward the front.
Info
Grooves are milled into the side of the upper end of the fork legs. The
second milled groove (from the top) must be flush with the top edge of
the upper triple clamp.
