9.108Filling up with engine oil x
Info
Too little engine oil or poor-quality engine oil results in premature wear to the engine.

– Remove the screw cap  on the generator cover and fill up with engine oil.
Engine oil 0.60 l (0.63 qt.) Engine oil (SAE 10W/50) ( p. 97)
– Mount and tighten screw cap .
Danger
Danger of poisoning Exhaust gases are poisonous and can result in uncon-
sciousness and/or death.
– When running the engine, always make sure there is sufficient ventila-
tion, and do not start or run the engine in a closed space.
– Start the engine and check that it is oil-tight.
– Check the engine oil level. ( p. 75)

9.110Checking gear oil level

The gear oil level must be checked when the engine is cold.
– Stand the motorcycle upright on a horizontal surface.

Condition
Engine is cold.
– Remove gear oil level check screw . Stand the vehicle upright.
– Check the gear oil level.
A small amount of gear oil should flow out.
» If no gear oil flows out:
–
Add gear oil. x ( p. 79)
– Mount and tighten the gear oil level check screw.
Guideline
Screw, gear oil level check M6 8 Nm (5.9 lbf ft)
