Installingorreplacinganopticaldrive
Note:Thefollowinginstructionsalsoapplytoa5.25-inchflexmodule(availableonsomemodels).
Toinstallorreplaceanopticaldrive,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage47.
4.Locatetheoptical-drivebays.See“Frontviewoftheserver”onpage17.Readtheopticaldrive
installationrulesin“Installingorreplacingadeviceinanopticaldrivebay”onpage120.
5.Dependingonwhetheryouareinstallingorreplacinganopticaldrive,dooneofthefollowing:
•Ifyouareinstallingasecondaryopticaldriveintotheupperoptical-drivebay,insertafingerintothe
holeasshowntopushtheprotectiveshielduntilitisprojectedfromthefrontofthechassis.Then,
holdtheprotectiveshieldfromthefrontandcompletelyslideitoutofthechassis.
