Yourserverhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andconfigurationinformationfor
built-infeatures.Thecoin-cellbatterykeepstheinformationactivewhenyouturnofftheserver.The
coin-cellbatterynormallyrequiresnochargingnormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthecoin-cellbatteryfails,thedate,time,andconfigurationinformation,includingpasswords,are
lostandanerrormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnontheserver.

Dangerofexplosionifbatteryisincorrectlyreplaced.
Whenreplacingthelithiumcoin-cellbattery,useonlythesameoranequivalenttypethatis
recommendedbythemanufacturer.Thebatterycontainslithiumandcanexplodeifnotproperly
used,handled,ordisposedof.

Toreplacethecoin-cellbattery,dothefollowing:
Note:Afteryoureplacethecoin-cellbattery,youmustresetpasswords,resetsystemdateandtime,and
reconfiguretheserver.
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.If
theserverisintowerformfactor,laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
