Toinstallthesecondmicroprocessor,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.If
theserverisintowerformfactor,laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage72.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingthecoolingshroud”onpage75.
5.Locatethemicroprocessorsocket2onthesystemboard.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage47.
6.Openthesmallhandle1firstbygentlypressingdownthehandlealittlebitandthenpushingthehandle
inwardtoreleaseitfromthesecuredposition.Then,opentheothersmallhandle
2inthesameway.
Note:Therearetwomarksonthemicroprocessorretainer.Openthesmallhandlemarkedwith
firstandthenopentheothersmallhandlemarkedwith.Alwaysfollowthecorrectsequencewhen
