Toreplacetheheatsink,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallexternalmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedto
theserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaflat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.If
theserverisintowerformfactor,laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage72.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingthecoolingshroud”onpage75.
5.Removethefourscrewsthatsecuretheheatsinktothesystemboard.Itisrecommendedthatyou
carefullyremovethefourscrewsusingthefollowingmethodtoavoidanypossibledamagetothe
systemboard.
a.Partiallyremovescrew1,thencompletelyremovescrew3,andthenreturntoscrew1and
completelyremoveit.
b.Partiallyremovescrew2,thencompletelyremovescrew4,andthenreturntoscrew2and
completelyremoveit.
Note:Thefourscrewsareintegratedpartsoftheheatsink.Donottrytoremovethefourscrews
