•  If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, 
or remove the server from the rack.
Procedure
Step 1.  Make preparations for this task. 
a.  Remove the top cover (see 
“Remove the top cover” on page 240).
b.  Remove both PCIe riser cages or fillers, the chassis air baffle, and the PCIe expansion tray (see 
“Remove a 4U PCIe riser cage” on page 255, “Remove the chassis air baffle” on page 270, and 
“Remove the 4U PCIe expansion tray” on page 249).
c.  Remove the system board air baffle (see 
“Remove the system board air baffle” on page 226) or 
the processor and memory expansion tray and the expansion tray air baffle (see 
“Remove the 
processor and memory expansion tray” on page 219
).
d.  Remove the PCIe riser assembly (see 
“Remove the PCIe riser assembly” on page 186).
e.  If OCP adapter air baffle has been installed, remove it.

Grasp and lift the handle to disconnect the USB cable from the system board.
Lift the air baffle to remove it.
f.  Locate the CMOS battery on the system board.
