CHAPTER 5. TRANSPORT
CHAPTER 6. RECYCLING
When placing carbon ber bicycles on bike racks, never secure them by the tubes as this could result in
crushing and cracking them.
When placing your bicycle in the trunk of a car, never stack luggage or objects on top, but rather
underneath.
If you are transporting your bike without wheels, place a spacer between the fork and rear triangle
dropouts to avoid any accidental crushing by putting weight on the frame.
Remove the battery pack for the duration of the trip, and transport it inside the vehicle.
Electric bikes are heavier than traditional bikes. If you are transporting your bicycle on a vehicle, ensure
it does not exceed the maximal load of the roof, tow hitch and/or bike rack. Refer to the vehicle user manual
and bike rack instructions for details.
Always comply with local regulations relative to the transport of electric bicycles.
Insofar as Li-ion batteries of this size and power are considered “Class 9 miscellaneous dangerous
goods” for transport, regulations may, under certain conditions, restrict the transport of such batteries alone.
These restrictions are applied by most airlines and some road transport operators.
In any case, if you intend to travel with your electric bike (with the battery installed) or ship it, check with
your airline or carrier before booking your trip to ensure transportation of a complete electric bicycle (with
battery installed) is permitted.
The entire bike (complete bike, accessories
and packaging) must be disposed of in an
environmentally friendly way. Do not throw bicycles
or components out with the garbage!
For bicycles with electrical assistance, and only for
EU countries, the battery pack must be treated in
accordance with European Directive 2012/19/EU,
and broken electrical equipment in accordance with
European Directive 2006/66/EC. Used batteries
must be stored separately and disposed of in an
environmentally friendly manner.
For other countries, please refer to local regulations.
Additional information
If you are looking for additional instructions for using
and servicing your bike, be aware there are many
resources around.
Contact your retailer. He has extensive experience
in bicycles and he very likely rides in the area. He
can answer your questions and advise you on
places where you can enjoy your new bike. Most
retails sell repair guides and books about cycling.
Your local library probably also has a collection
of books about riding, racing, bicycle safety,
maintenance etc. Finally, your favorite browser or
video platform offers a wealth of information, but
always bear in mind that unskilled operations may
have unfortunate consequences.
