maXim Operator Manual Patch
LSC Lighting Systems (Aust) Pty. Ltd. Page 49 of 66
Press [edit]
PATCHING DMX ADDRESSES TO CHANNELS
Hint; Plan your patch by firstly writing it down on a “patch sheet”. When patching DMX addresses to
channels, start with the fixture to be controlled, allocate the DMX (dimmer) number that is to control
it, and then patch that dimmer output to the desired desk channel.
Press [<] or [>] or rotate the EDIT wheel to select the DMX address.
MaXim models with 2 DMX universes (2 outputs) use U1 or U2 to indicate DMX Universe.
When the DMX address is incremented above the highest number in universe 1 (U1-512), it
changes to universe 2 (U2-1).
To patch the selected DMX address to a channel, press the [F/A] button of the channel number.
The channel F/A button will light to show that the patch exists.
Select another DMX address with the EDIT wheel, [<] or [>] and patch it to a channel by pressing
the [F/A] button of that channel number.
Continue to select DMX addresses and patch them to maXim channels.
When scrolling through the DMX addresses, as each number is shown, if a channel is patched to it,
that channel’s F/A key will light. Each DMX address may only be patched to any one channel. If a
particular DMX address is already patched to a channel and you attempt to patch that same DMX
address to a different channel (by pressing that channel’s F/A key) then the display will ask “DMX #
patched to channel # - replace ?”. If you press [no], the patch remains. If you press [yes], the patch
is deleted and the new patch made.
When all patches have been made, end the editing by pressing
[edit].
The patch is automatically saved.
SET A PROPORTIONAL PATCH LEVEL
When patching (above), select the DMX address with the EDIT wheel, [<] or [>] then hold down the
lit [F/A] button of the patched channel. The display shows the patch level. Whilst holding down the
channel [F/A] button, rotate the EDIT to set the patch level.
UNPATCH A DMX ADDRESS FROM A CHANNEL
To delete a single patch, select the DMX address (above) then press;
[remove]
The display scrolls, “Delete patch to DMX#?” Press;
[yes].
Alternately, select the DMX address and set the proportional patch level to zero.
MULTIPLE DMX ADDRESSES PATCHED TO A CHANNEL
Each channel may be patched to more than one DMX address. To determine which DMX
addresses are patched to a channel, when patching a channel to a DMX address (above) hold
down [function] then repeatedly tap the [F/A] button of the channel in question. The display will
cycle through all of the DMX addresses patched to that channel.
1 TO 1 PATCH
A 1 to 1 patch is available to speed the patching process. It directly connects each maXim channel
number to its matching DMX number.
To add a “1 to 1 patch”,
Hold [function], tap [patch].
Press [add], [yes].
Note; Adding a 1 to 1 patch will replace any existing patches.
