17.0 REAR PANEL
Rear panel layout of a maXim L.
The rear panel of a maXim L is shown. The smaller maxims do not have the second desk lamp (8)
or DMX512 Universe 2 (9) connectors and the video and disk drive are optional.
1 POWER SWITCH
2 MAINS INPUT AND FUSE
The maXim has a universal power supply that will operate on voltages between 90 volts and 260
volts, 47-63 Hz. The mains fuse is located in a slide out tray in the side of the mains input socket.
Should the fuse blow, remove the mains lead and slide out the fuse tray. Pop out the blown fuse
and replace it with a 0.5 Amp slow blow fuse. A spare fuse is provided in the slide out fuse tray.
Replace the spare fuse if you use it.
3 DESK LAMP
A halogen goose-neck desk lamp may be connected to this socket. The socket provides both
power and mounting for the lamp. There is an internal self resetting thermal fuse for the power to
the lamp.
4 AUDIO INPUT
The RCA audio input connector is used for the Sound To Light feature. It accepts an audio level of
1 volt RMS (line level). For operational details, refer to the “SOUND TO LIGHT” chapter.
5 DMX512/1990
This 5 pin DMX connector has 2 functions;
• It provides the DMX512 output for DMX Universe 1 (channels 1 to 512).
• It connects the maXim to a computer serial port for software updates.
6 VIDEO
The VIDEO output (optional on maXim S & M models) allows a standard SVGA computer monitor
to be directly connected to the maXim to provide visual displays of channel levels, stacks, fade
times etc. For operational details, refer to the “VIDEO OUTPUT” section in the “UTILITIES” chapter.
7 DISK DRIVE
The maXim is fitted with a 3.5 inch double sided, high density, (1.44 MB), disk drive (optional on S
& M models) for show storage. See the UTILITIES chapter for details.
8 DMX512/1990 UNIVERSE 2 (WHERE FITTED)
This 5 pin DMX connector provides the DMX512 output for DMX Universe 2.
9 DESK LAMP (WHERE FITTED)
A second halogen goose-neck desk lamp may be connected to this socket. The socket provides
both power and mounting for the lamp. There is an internal self resetting thermal fuse for the power
to the lamp.
