Central Office Clock Connections
Composite Clock
Two shielded pairs are required at each COT for connections to the central office
composite (8/64 kHz) clock for channel units of the following type: Dataport, DDS,
ISDN, etc. The primary and secondary pairs (COC0 and COC1) are terminated at
the TS1 block with 68.1 ohm resistors as indicated in the figure below (Figure 3-
51). If Lucent Technologies cables are utilized then refer to the wire colors as
indicated. The cable shields are grounded only at the TS1 block as indicated.
DS1 SONET Clock
Connections to the DS1 clock are made at the ARM shelf P37 and/or P44
connectors (see Figure 3-52) using the appropriate ED7C723-37 or ED8C724-20
cable assemblies (refer to the PARTS LISTS section). The first COT is cabled to
the DS1 Stratum 3 (or higher) clock via the P37 cable connector and subsequent
COT's are multipled via the P44/P37 cable assembly (see Figure 3-53). The first
COT may be multipled to a DDM-2000 system instead provided that system is
connected to the Stratum 3 (or higher) clock. Refer to the APPLICATIONS section
for details.
