Installation Procedures
Issue 4 February 1997 2-11
Mounting System Shelves
NOTE:
These procedures shall be followed when separate shelves must be
mounted, when increasing system capacity, or when equipment shelves
must be replaced. Refer to the Figure 2-5 for equipment shelf locations.
NOTE:
COT Frames may have been preassembled at an Lucent Technologies
Service Center with a complement of shelves in accordance with an engi-
neered order or may have only a minimum complement of shelves
equipped. In either case the customer’s order should be checked for the
correct configuration of shelves. COT frames coded J1C265B-1 (flush
mount) and J1C265C-1 (extended mount) may have been ordered from the
supplier as a complete complement of shelves factory mounted and inter-
connected.
NOTE:
All shelves are mounted from the rear and must be assembled only in
accordance with the Mounting Hole Locations Figure 2-5. To mount the
shelves otherwise would destroy the integrity of the system airflow, the
local cable connections and the growth pattern.
NOTE:
The ATU shelf has side mounting flanges which can be repositioned to
allow the shelf to be mounted flush with the front of the frame or extend
outwards. This arrangement allows for conformity with other frames and
shelves in the central office environment.
The ARM (J1C265AD-1) and MDS (J1C265AE-1) shelf can be ordered as
List 1 or List 3, flush mounting (Figure 2-1A, Side View) type or as List 2 or
List 4 extended mounting (Figure 2-1B, Side View) type.
NOTE:
Before attaching the shelf’s ground wire to the bay frame, remove as much
of the frame’s paint as necessary to ensure a low-resistance ground and
apply an oxidation preventative such as
NO OX-ID
“A”.
NOTE:
For rear mounted, flush mounted shelves, remove all ARM and MDS shelf
doors prior to installing the shelves onto the bay frame.
