Electrical Wiring Admonishments
Important Installation Safety Instructions
1. Read and understand all instructions and warning labels.
2. Installation and maintenance procedures must be followed and performed
by trained personnel only. Do not allow non-service personnel to access
electrical wiring.
3. All VF, DS1, STS-1E, and DS3 interfaces should not leave the building pre-
mises unless connected to telecommunication devices providing primary or
secondary protection, as applicable.
4. Never install telecommunication wiring during a lightning storm.
5. Never install telecommunication connections in wet locations.
6. Never touch uninsulated telecommunication wires or terminals unless the
telecommunication line has been disconnected at the VF, DS1, STS-1E, or
DS3 interface.
7. Never touch uninsulated wiring or terminals carrying direct current or ring-
ing current or leave this wiring exposed. Protect and tape those wires and
terminals to avoid risk of fire, electrical shock, and injury to service person-
nel.
8. Use caution when installing or modifying telecommunication lines.
9. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indi-
cated on the marking label. For information on proper electrical distribution
and power requirements, refer to the Application Schematic contained in
the APPLICATIONS chapter of this manual.
10. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not disassemble this product. Ser-
vice should be performed by trained personnel only. Opening or removing
covers and/or circuit packs may expose you to dangerous voltages or other
risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electrical shock when the unit is sub-
sequently used.
