MM/MC cartridge select
Therearetwotypes--MM(MovingMagnet)andMC(Moving
Coil)--ofcartridgesforturntable.
Astheoutputlevelsforthesetwotypesofcartridgesdier,
thesettingofthephonoequalizerthatismountedinthisunit
mustbeswitchedaccordingtothetypeofcartridgeforyour
turntable.Forswitching,usethePHONOMCbuttononthis
unit.
Speaker impedance
ThisisanACresistancevalue,indicatedinΩ(Ohms).Greater
powercanbeobtainedwhenthisvalueissmaller.
Protection circuit
This is a function to prevent damage to devices within the
power supply when an abnormality such as an overload,
excessvoltageoccursorovertemperatureforanyreason.
Ifamalfunctionoccursinthisunit,thepowerindicatorblinks
redandtheunitswitchestostandbymode.
Appendix
Explanation terms
Thisunit isequipped witha protectioncircuitto protectthe
ampliercircuitsandspeakersystemfromdamage.
If the protection circuit is activated, the sound is instantly
muted.
Inthiscase,themessage“PROTECT”ashesonthedisplay
panel,andtheSTANDBYindicatoralsoashes.
Todeactivatetheprotectioncircuit,turntheunitothenback
onagainafterabout1minuteormore.
At power on
Forabout8secondsafterthepoweristurnedon,theprotection
circuit is activated, muting the sound to give the amplier
circuitstimetostabilize.Oncetheampliercircuitsstabilize,
theprotectioncircuitisreleased,andaudioisenabled.
In the event of overcurrent
Theprotectioncircuitisactivatedifcurrentexceedingacertain
levelisdetected,whichcanhappenifexcessivesignalowis
inputtotheamplieroriftheunitisconnectedtoaspeaker
system of less than 4 Ω/ohms impedance. The protection
circuitisalsoactivatedifaspeakercableshorts.
Insuchcases,themessage“PROTECT”ashesonthedisplay,
andthevolumeisautomaticallyreduced.Afterapproximately
8 seconds, the protection circuit is released. Therefore, the
volumeneedsreadjustingtocontinuenormaluse.
If the overcurrent continues, the amplier shuts itself OFF,
andtheSTANDBYindicatorashes.
Todeactivatetheprotectioncircuit,turntheunitothenback
onagainafterabout1minuteormore.
If excessive ultrabass signals are input
Theprotectioncircuitisalsoactivatedifultrabasssignalsare
input. In such a case, the STANDBY indicator ashes, and
the volume is automatically reduced. After approximately
8 seconds, the protection circuit is released. Therefore, the
volumeneedsreadjustingtocontinuenormaluse.Ifexcessive
ultrabasssignal inputcontinues orifDC voltageis detected
owingtotroublewiththeamplier,theampliershutsitself
OFF,andtheSTANDBYindicatorashes.
Todeactivatetheprotectioncircuit,turntheunitothenback
onagainafterabout1minuteormore.
About the protection circuit
If the main-amplifier overheats
Theprotectioncircuitisactivatedifthetemperatureofthemain
ampliersectionrisesaboveacertainlevel,whichcanhappen
iftheamplieriscontinuouslyusedwithexcessivesignalow
beinginputtoit.Theprotectioncircuitisalsoactivatedwhen
thespeciedoperating temperatureis exceeded,which can
happeniftheventsontopoftheamplierarecoveredorif
the amplier is installed on a cramped audio rack. In such
a case, the STANDBY indicator ashes, and the volume is
automatically reduced. After approximately 8 seconds, the
protection circuit is released. Therefore, the volume needs
readjustingtocontinuenormaluse.
If the temperature does not suciently fall within a certain
amount of time after the protection circuit activation, the
ampliershutsitselfOFF,andtheSTANDBYindicatorashes.
To deactivate the protection circuit, turn the unit o, let it
standuntilitcoolsdown,thenturnitONagain.
In the event of amplifier trouble
Theprotectioncircuitisactivated,andthepoweris
automaticallyshutOFF,ifanabnormalityisdetectedinthe
powercircuit.Thesamehappensifthemainfuseinside
theamplierblows.Insuchcases,theSTANDBYindicator
ashes.
Turntheunito thenafterseveralminutesturnitonagain.
Ifthe display doesnot light up, andthe STANDBY indicator
remainsashingaftertheunitisturnedonagain,theunitmay
beinfailure.
