Airbaginationisvirtuallyinstantaneousandoccurswith
considerableforce,accompaniedbyaloudnoise.The
inatedbag,togetherwiththeseatbeltrestraintsystem,
limitthemovementofafrontseatoccupant,thereby
reducingtheriskofinjurytotheheadanduppertorso.
Note:Whenanairbaginates,anepowderis
released.Thisisnotanindicationofamalfunction,
however,thepowdermaycauseirritationtotheskin
andshouldbethoroughlyushedfromtheeyesand
anycutsorabrasionsoftheskin.Afterination,front
andsideairbagsdeateimmediately.Thisprovidesa
gradualcushioningeffectfortheoccupantandalso
ensuresthatthedriver'sforwardvisionisnotobscured.
