Brine Generator Installation (Optional)
Plumbing Connections
Place the brine generator on a flat surface that is capable of handling the load of a fully
loaded tank. A 1,000 gallon tank can hold up to 9,000 lbs. of salt. Sweep the floor prior to
installation. Debris left under a tank can permanently damage the tank. Rotate the tank to
align inlet and outlet fittings that best suit the installation. Plumb softened water to the inlet
of the tank. It is recommended that an isolation valve be installed on the water line prior to
the tank to assist with maintenance. Plumb the overflow fitting to a drain. Verify the
overflow line has an adequate air gap to prevent cross contamination of the brine generator.
Plumb the outlet fitting (Figure 16).
Note: Outlet plenum should be installed before float assembly.
Note: Use Teflon tape on threaded plumbing connections.
Brine Tank Float and Spray Ring Assembly
MIOX has adapted an off-the-shelf float valve and spray ring assembly for providing
saturated brine to the on-site generator. Kinetico® provides KCBS (Kinetico® Central Brine
System) which includes a float valve assembly with a 28” height adjustment range to allow
for a broader range of tank fill levels.
