Water Flow Control Valve Reset Procedure
On occasion an anomaly in the control signal to the modulating actuator might cause the
actuator to “freeze up” and no longer respond to the 4 – 20 mA (or 0-10VDC) control signal. If
this happens, please follow these instructions to re-set the actuator:
1. Switch off the power to the actuator. This is the voltage supplied to the large DIN plug.
2. Remove the control signal DIN plug. This is the female DIN plug in the center of the 3 DIN
plugs.
3. On the male DIN plug on the actuator (the center control signal plug) make a short circuit
between pin 1 and ground. Looking at the male DIN plug, head on, pin 1 is the pin in the
3:00 o’clock position. Ground is the flat pin in the 6:00 o’clock position. The short circuit
can be made with a piece of wire, or a screwdriver blade. The short circuit must be made
when the power is switched back on, then the short circuit released while the power
remains on.
4. Turn on the power while the short circuit is made. Leave the power on and remove the
short circuit.
5. The actuator should begin to re-set itself. It will move to full open position and then back
to full closed position (for a normally closed actuator; if it is a normally open actuator, the
opposite will occur).
6. Plug in the control signal DIN plug.
7. The actuator should function properly again. If not, the problem is elsewhere. Contact
your MIOX customer support provider.
System Shutdown procedure
This sequence for shutdown of the RIO Series OSG is designed to properly flush the electrolytic
cell and help maintain the overall condition of the MIOX equipment. When turning the system
off for a prolonged period of time, it is important to follow this sequence:
1. Push in the red RUN/STOP switch.
2. Wait 30 seconds while the OSG performs a shut-down purge cycle.
3. Purge the brine proportion pump by isolating the brine generator outlet valve and
disconnecting the suction line to the brine proportion pump. Connect a water source to
the suction side of the brine proportion pump.
4. Start the OSG to flush the pump with brine-free water
5. Push in the red RUN/STOP switch to the OFF position.
6. Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
7. Drain the oxidant tank(s), brine generator(s), and drain cell if freezing conditions could
exist.
8. Disconnect the power source.
