8.7.2 Fuel system – Venting
Preconditions
☑ Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
☑ Engine is cooled down to ambient temperature.

WARNING
Fuels are combustible and explosive.
Risk of fire and explosion!
• Avoid open flames, electrical sparks and ignition sources.
• Do not smoke.
• Wear protective clothing, protective gloves, and safety glasses / facial protection.
Fuel system – Venting
1. Open the unpressurized return to the tank (2)
and connect to the tank or a suitably large
vessel.
2. Open vent valve (3) on fuel filter.
3. Vent fuel filter by actuating hand pump (1).
4. Close vent valve (3) on fuel filter and tighten to specified tightening torque.

5. Actuate hand pump (1) until HP pump flow can be heard. Fuel emerges from the return to the tank (2) now.
6. Connect return to tank (2).
7. Start the engine.
