mode,theProcessorBoardreducespower
consumptionbyutilizingtheprocessorSystemManagementMode
(SMM)capabilities andalsospinningdownharddrivesandturningoff
VESADPMScompliantmonitors.Duringsetup,theusermayselect
whichDPMSmode(StandBy,Suspend,orOff)issenttothemonitor.
Theability
torespondtoexternalinterruptsisfullymaintainedwhile
inStand‐bymodeenablingthesystemtoservicerequestssuchasin‐
comingdataornetworkmessageswhileunattended.Theusermay
alsoselectanykeyboardormouseactivitytotakethesystemoutofthe
energysavingStandbymode.When
thisoccurs,themonitorandIDE
drivesareturnedbackonimmediately.
APMisdisabledinBIOSbydefault;therefore,theusermustenable
thisfeature.ThesystemmustbeconfiguredwithanAPMdriverin
orderforthesystempowersavingfeaturestotakeeffect.
