5-2 Installing Options
This chapter provides installation instructions for a variety of
industry-standard and NEC CSD expansion options that you
can add to your system.
Included in the chapter are instructions for
memory module upgrade
processor upgrade
expansion board installation
data storage device installation.
Most options require that the system covers be removed.
Procedures for removing the covers are also included in this
chapter.
General Rules
Follow these general rules when installing system options.
Turn off system power and unplug the power cable.
Turn off and disconnect all peripherals from the front or
rear of the system.
When handling boards or chips, touch the system metal
frame to discharge static.
Do not disassemble parts other than those specified in the
procedure.
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver unless otherwise
specified.
Label any cable connectors before disconnecting. Note
where the connector goes and in what position it was
installed.
