Solving System Problems 6-5
System does not boot immediately after hard drive
spins up.
The hard disk delay can be set lower through the BIOS
Features Setup menu of the CMOS Setup Utility. (If you
get a message operating system not found after you
change the setting, the delay is at too low a setting. Set the
hard disk delay slightly higher.)
System performance appears sluggish.
Check that your system is set for optimal operation. See
your operating system documentation.
Check the memory requirements of your software
applications. If required, install additional DIMM memory
(see Chapter 5).
If you added optional memory, check that you correctly
installed the DIMM memory.
System password forgotten.
The password can be cleared by changing the CMOS
Clear jumper setting. Moving the CMOS Clear jumper
also clears any customized CMOS settings. See Clearing
CMOS Settings in Chapter 3.
!
CAUTION
Moving the CMOS Clear jumper clears any
customized CMOS settings.
