Message Count Display
Description
The 3-line telephone display provides interactive status updates for the subscriber's mailbox. When
initially logged on to the mailbox, the 3-line telephone display shows the number of new and archived
messages. The message count automatically updates as the subscriber receives new messages and
processes older messages.

If an extension Voice Mail key is optionally assigned as a Message Waiting key (see Programming
below), the telephone display can show the number of new Voice Mail messages without the user
logging on to their mailbox. If the user has 1 new Voice Mail message in their mailbox, for example,
they see the following display:
1 New Message
101
Menu Dir VM:01 CL:00
If a user has new voice mail messages waiting, pressing Message shows the number of waiting
voice mail messages. Pressing Message a second time calls voice mail.
If a user has new Message Waiting indications left, pressing Message shows the extension that left
the Message Waiting. Pressing Message a second time places an Intercom call to the coworker that
left the Message Waiting.
If a user has both new Voice Mail messages and Messages Waiting:
- Pressing Voice Mail key shows the number of new voice mail messages.
- Pressing Voice Mail key a second time either calls Voice Mail or returns the Message Waiting
call, depending on which count is displayed.
