8.1 Sterilisation Policy
The operatons detaled n secton 8 must be carred out by
sutably traned techncans only
Follow your local hosptal gudelnes
Autoclavable components are lsted n secton 85
8.2 Bacterial Filters
The use of respratory bacteral flters s essental to protect
the oxygen sensor mounted at the sde of the absorber
Ft a bacteral flter to the expratory lmb of the breathng
crcut
In addton a heat and mosture exchange (HME) unt should be
ftted at the patent Y-pece
Refer to the dagram n secton 5 – ‘Breathng rcut
onnectons, and the nformaton on flow resstance n
sectons 422, and 423
Flters may be sterlsable or sngle use Please read the
labellng suppled by ther manufacturer
AUTION
Replacement/Dsposal - always follow the nstructons
suppled wth the flter or HME
Always renew components at the recommended nterval
NOTE
If a bacteral flter has not been used n the expratory lmb of
the breathng crcut, the oxygen sensor may be contamnated
and must be replaced
8.3 Patient Circuit Components
The components should be separated, washed wth warm
soap and water soluton, rnsed n warm water and ar dred
For sterlsaton, follow the nstructons suppled by the
manufacturer
