9. Setting the presser bar height
Requirement:
With the presser bar lever raised there must be a 4.5 mm gap between the needle plate and the bottom
of the presser foot.
Check:
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the needle bar is at its lowest point.
● With the presser bar lever raised, slide the adjustment gauge under the presser foot as in figure 16.
● Check the height of the presser bar (measurement B).
Setting:
● Remove the housing as described in the adjustment and repair instructions.
● Loosen the screw 16 on the presser bar holder (figure 17).
● Move the presser bar until the bottom of the presser foot sits firmly on the adjustment gauge.
● Slightly tighten the screw 16.
● Lower the presser foot and by rotating the presser bar align the presser foot
slots with the needle plate slots.
● Tighten the screw 16.
