13. Setting the looper-to-needle clearance
Requirement:
When the looper point is in the scarf of the needle while moving to the right, the looper-to-needle clea-
rance must be between 0 and 0.05 mm (figure 25).
Check:
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the looper point is exactly in the scarf
of the right needle while moving to the right.
● Check the gap between the point of the looper and the needle.
Setting:
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the looper point is exactly in the scarf
of the right needle (A) when moving to the right.
● Loosen the screw 7 of the looper lever 8 (figure 26).
● Adjust the looper-to-needle clearance by moving the looper lever 8.
● Tighten the screw 7 of the looper lever 8.
Test:
● As described under “Requirement”.
Check:
● Insert the left needle (B).
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the looper point is positioned exactly
in the scarf of the left needle while moving to the right (figure 25).
● Check the clearance of the looper to the left needle.
Setting:
● Slightly loosen the screw 3 on the needle bar 1 (figure 2).
● Adjust the looper-to-needle clearance by rotating the needle bar (figure 25).
● Tighten the screw 3 on the needle bar 1 (figure 2).
Test:
● As described under “Check”.
