11. Setting the height of the lower overedge looper
Requirement:
The vertical clearance between the looper point and the looper drive shaft must be 47.6 mm (figure 20).
Check:
● Remove the housing as described in the adjustment and repair instructions.
● Remove the sewing foot, the needle plate and the feed dog.
● Unscrew the fastening screw 1 of the lower looper thread guide and remove the looper thread
guide (figure 21).
● Unscrew the fastening screw 2 and remove the needle guard.
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the looper point is at its left point of reversal.
● Position the adjustment gauge.
● Check the height setting (measurement E) of the lower overedge looper.
Setting:
● Turn the handwheel in the normal direction until the looper point is at its right point of reversal.
● Loosen the screw 3 of the overedge looper.
● Move the looper 4 until the vertical distance of 47.6 mm to the looper drive shaft has been reached.
● Remove the adjustment gauge.
● Tighten the screw 3 on the overedge looper.
Test:
● As described under “Requirement”.
